Nuclear family: consists of a cohabiting man and woman who maintain a socially approved sexual relationship and have at least one child. In both it involves a common-law relationship or marriage between a man and a woman. The only difference is that in a traditional nuclear family, the woman stays home while the man goes out to work. The first big family is a traditional nuclear family. It is much less common than it was decades ago. The estimated cost of raising a child to the age of 18 is about ,000/ year. The second family is divorced, but still a nuclear family. The mother is also working outside the home, because it"s hard to get by with one income these days.
