Religion reinforces social solidarity, heightening our sense of belonging to a group and strengthening our belief in certain ideas. Durkheim thinks about how rlg can contribute to social solidarity, social cohesion as a result of shared values and shared beliefs and strengthen our connecion to one another. Central concept for durkheim is the collecive conscience.
