They have an emphasis on observation and measurement in their time. We were on the ascendancy, overlooked the dark ages and felt like life was getting better and we were becoming more advanced than others through this theory. This theory encouraged the elevation of western white states and made them superior to others. This theory continues to influence criminology today. He was very committed to risorgimento and this heavily influenced his study which was to address and fix big social problems like poverty for example. He used the scientific method and tried to find a scientific explanation and solution to these problems.
