Their job is to find the truth, not to put someone in jail. Power: decide on trials, diversions, plea conditions o. 95% cases never go to court and get a plea bargain. Determine proper procedure and admissibility of evidence: makes sure rules are followed, determine admissibility of what goes into court. They are more hands on in youth court bc they are there to ensure that due process is followed than in regular court: want to ensure that the rights of the youth are upheld. Provide info about victim, accused, witnesses, offence. Procedural law is the rules that you follow.
