Modern capitalist societies, including law are organized around rationalization and bureaucracy. Legal- authority is the primary way that power is exercised today. Iron cage- bureaucracy takes a life of its own- weber"s vision. Non traditional authority (following a religious figure) Not charismatic authority (cult leaders, someone who has a magnetic personality, seen as an incredible figure) Legal-rational authority: is a belief in the legality of enacted rules and the right of those elevated to authority under such rules to issue commands (weber 1978). Weber had this idea that society evolved through legal rational authority, interpretation there are different stages of authority, still sued these stages, to understand the dynamic of the political model. Trying to achieve some kind of goal, has to follow these rules, deal with these administrators (stamping paperwork) The people behind the desk have an authority towards the people getting their paperwork stamped.
