SOC307H5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Albert Bandura, Social Learning Theory, Primitive Communism
Document Summary
Learning is done through observations [younger age] * higher probability >>> increase likelihood of crime. Learning requires a social context: a) imitation = modelling (other behaviour, those around them) b) operant conditioning = reinforcements / punishments (one is more likely to repeat behaviour once it is rewarded) Modelling: observation, extraction of information and decisions. When aggressive behaviour is rewarded, the individual is more likely to continue such actions. Kids are in one room, bobo doll in the other. Adult comes into the room and begins to hit the bobo doll, after such observation -- child comes in and aggressively repeated what they saw. Structural society (class determines ones place in society) Workers: labour power to sell for wages. No government, inequality, exploitation: ancient class society. Lords vs. serfs (those who own, and those who do not: capitalism. * middle class members will either become apart of capitalist or workers (move up or down)
