Aboriginal youth and try to acknowledge and prevent incarceration for this group due to these circumstances, and lastly the ycja focuses on the role of the victim. Policing youth justice: the ycja said its okay for police to do nothing when the child breaks the law. Instead they could give them a warming, give caution, establish them in a program, etc. This is to prevent children from going through the cjs: the number of youth charged sharply declined, and the number of youth diverted strongly increased when the ycja came into effect. Criminal justice processing: the police are the first formal contact young people have. Pre-trial detention: same grounds on the criminal code; so basically, the same as adults, this is meant for the person that has not been found guilty yet.
