Privatization of policing is firmly in sway: not shifting from government to non-state, but a growing security market. Mixed market economies: public perception of crime threat necessitates more policing, but the state has not been able to keep up. Public police have tended to be somewhat patronizing toward their private counterparts. Private police took on many new roles: e. g.
