Alice goffman did not position herself with her subjects. Her book was found to have inconsistencies and she was critiqued for not fact checking what her participants said. This week: therapy, treatment, and criminal justice: specialized courts. Courts should be doing more than just cases and applying the law. They make the most out of traditional authority. Judges aren"t just fact finders but are intimately involved in the person"s treatment (ex. Specialized courts should team up with the community to address crime and the underlying cause of crime. Based on therapeutic jurisprudence, which is concerned with the people"s experience of the law and judges should be sensitive to the face that the law itself could affect people"s treatment.
