It"s a contradictory term which most people don"t get the right definition of: post-modernism begins after world-war 2 to present day, you cannot simply define postmodernism. Images over reality: an emphasis on style over substance (we have people now in postmodern world who are famous for nothing. No substance: surfaces and style therefore have become more important than ever, producing and feeding off what is called a designer ideology". Davis harvey describes this as images dominate narrative": this is evident in popular culture itself where surface and style, playfulness and jokes, and what things look like, are said to predominate the expense of content substance and meaning. Postmodernism is therefore playful, as it plays with the past and the future. Do we still value the original": many iranians are upset over their depiction in 300, the artistic aura, of the mona lisa is destroyed by its infinite reproducibility, through the silkscreen printing technique.
