Halberstam discusses two films the crying game and boys don"t cry. In the crying game the author demonstrated how nationalism and muticulturalism are used to invisiblize and subvert the transgendered subject. Halberstam writes the transgender dil never controls the gaze and serves as a racialized fetish figure who diverts the viewer"s attention from the highly charged political conflict between england and ireland pg 81. The film centered around 3 key individuals: jody (british black soldier), jude (mixed race transgender, born a man lived as a woman; worked as a man ira operative; escaped. Ira to be a women), fergus (ira operatives) Jude had an affair with jody; jody knew jude as a woman. The feminine queer body gets lost and get subverted invisiblized; the ideology as nationalist & tradition.
