WRI203H5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Bethany Hamilton, Violent Waves, Tiger Shark
Document Summary
There"s a classiicaion of nouns-one of them is called abstract nouns. Introduce abstracion speciic to a person, place or thing that"s tangible, conceptual. Refer to something a person cannot physically interact with/sense them. Something we can"t see, hear, smell, taste or touch = any nouns that evade senses cause we can"t experience. Example 1: when joseph dove into the violent waves to rescue a drowning puppy, his bravery amazed the crowd of ishermen standing on the dock. Bravery- mains noun=there are acions that can show bravery but bravery itself is not showing us the acion/concept; its trying to collect/show/present verbs that can show that acion, but its not showing it. We can conceptualize that bravery look like this when the writer describes it, but it might not be that way either, the abstracion, it doesn"t convey it directly. We can see joseph, the water, the crowd.
