EESA01H3 Lecture 3: Water and Human Health
Document Summary
There is water in the moist environment and atmosphere all around us. There are two main world problems regarding water. 2. 6% of all the water on earth is fresh water. Only 0. 014% is readily accessible fresh water. Withdrawal: a total amount of water removed from a river, lake or aquifer for any purpose. Some may be returned to the source for reuse but not all. 85% of the water is used for irrigation and is not returned to its water basin. There are different uses of water based on the country. One out of 6 people do not have regular access to clean water. It"s not that they can"t afford water but that water is just not available. Water that is completely salt-free is distilled water. Some salts in the water are consumable by humans. Produced by the radioactive decay of uranium. Damage to dna, increased risk of getting cancer. Small amounts added to water to improve dental health.
