Tuzo wilson is famous for coming up with the idea of plate tectonics. The wilson cycle is a fundamental organizing principle in earth history. Approximately every 500m years, the continents congregate together to form supercontinents. Most continents are built up of terranes, the collision of land masses. The america can be divided into 5 large pieces. The oldest part of north america is in the middle, because it is grown my accretion of terranes in the margins. The oldest rock on earth are found on the slave province of north america (4 billions years old)
