PSYA01H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Lobotomy, Frontal Lobe, Parietal Lobe
Document Summary
2 strips of parietal lobe -> sensory strip and motor strip. Motor strip is part of the frontal lobes. Sensory trip is the primary cortex of the parietal lobe. Certain parts of our bodies have more sensory tissue devoted to them. The amount of brain tissue that is devoted to a certain part of the body is associated with the amount of stimulation that part of the body receives (for example, we use our hands a lot to feel things) Motor strip is stimulated, which then corresponds an action. Sensory cortex homunculus -> the amount of sensitivity we have in our body parts is shown. Motor cortex homunculus -> how much control we have over our parts is shown. Contralateral organization -> right side controls left, vice versa. Motor strip stimulated by internal electricity -> seizure. Parietal, occipital and temporal lobes mostly for gathering information.
