Types vs. traits: although you still occasionally hear people speak in terms of personality types, most psychologists now think it makes more sense to talk about personality traits, traits we share in different quantities, greeks thought personality reflected how much of different kinds of fluids you had in your body, blood, phlegm, black bile, yellow bile, certain fluids may be more powerful or dominant and that would come out in terms of your personality. The big 5 neo pi r: most commonly used by psychologists, extraversion, person"s level of out going behavior, openness to experience, extent to which a person is imaginative, independent, and has a preference for variety over routine, agreeableness, extent to which a person is good natured, helpful, trusting, and cooperative, neuroticism, extent to which a person is calm and secure, conscientiousness, degree to which a person is organized, self disciplined, and responsible.
