PSYB01H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Operational Definition
Document Summary
Operationally defining length of relationship requires that you specify time frame. Use self report to study intelligence, self esteem, depression etc. Reliability: consistency or stability of a measure of behaviour. Understanding reliability true score: person"s real score on the variable. Measurement error: measurement unreliable, not accurate indication of variable. Increasing reliability of measure reduces uncertainty or error associated with that measure. Reliability most likely achieved when researchers use careful measurement procedures. Correlation coefficient: number that tells us how strongly two variables are related to each other.
