The assessment process in a nutshell: referral - someone has decided a psychological assessment is needed. Where the assessment starts; with a referral. Very different in a legal aspect; not voluntary. The other side: try to gain more information. Specific background information you want to find out: part of initial interview, and/or speaking with others in the client"s life. Or gather info from ppl in the client"s life; doctor, family, etc: test selection - choose assessment measures, requires knowledge of reliability, validity, norms and standardization samples, current literature, etc. Core test, then might do a follow-up test. Initial test selection and other additional things: administration, requires knowledge of standardized test administration, accommodations/modifications, testing the limits. Might follow-up test in a unstandardized way. Interpretation: requires knowledge of reliability, validity, norms and standardization samples, current literature, etc.
