Document Summary
Great pacific garbage patch: pile of trash floating between california and hawaii. Temperature increases, circulation patterns are changing (hadley cells stronger and larger, desert bells shifting poleward), extreme weather becoming frequent. Organisms can acclimate to climate change (phenotypic plasticity), they can adapt, they can migrate, they can go extinct. Early or gradual exposure to environmental stress can reduce negative impacts. Acclimation to warmer temperatures increases high-temperature tolerance minimally. Molt, brown coat in summer, white in winter. With climate change, less snow in winter, so white hares conspicuous against snowless background.
