Document Summary
January 23 2017 (l03) biological and physiological theories. Success of sciences in other fields propelled the scientific method and positivism. If source of crime is not within the god"s, there must be something about human beings. Natural forces propel (externa or internal) crime. Unconscious brain functions, chemical reactions may propel us; we can"t control some natural laws. Environment does need free will; natural laws push them. There are physical traits (external) that show internal problems. Therefore, you can pinpoint criminal traits and who to identify. Assumptions about behavior, intellectual qualities by using external physical traits (looks). Cultural assumptions about human being assigning traits to people. Certain parts of the brain associated with criminality. Brought free will and morality into question later. Idea of free will becomes problematic biology not free will abnormal brain organization, poor hereditary environment. Nothing with intention just abnormal brain. Very important scientific development in mid 1900s. Nature selects traits useful survival & reproduction.
