Document Summary

Poetic form: murakami interested in examining this in the internet age: play with the blurring of the lines between author and reader. Polyphony of the creative process on the internet: examination of the printed book in the digital age, mutation of words, like in in the poem clusterfuck . A clusterfuck: pleasure and chaos, anonymity and identity, and so on: melding of the serious and humour; important dialectic, same kind of thing as in technology; autocorrect. Reclamation of the act of reading and writing poetry: reading closely and carefully: a dead art, perhaps. Poetry acts as a reclaiming of careful reading: two poems, pg. 12 and 13: the all-caps poem written via an anagram maker and the no-caps poem via a piece of javascript. Totally skim-able text; close concentration is dif cult, hard to read the poem: we could read as a blur of capital letters, but there are important whatever, poems lines recall larger interests in the collection.
