Like any other history, hong kong history involved many different perspective. Four are easy to point out: 1) national humiliation, 2) refuge and opportunities, 3) trade and empire, and 4) the hong kong perspective! 1) people that had gone through a period of suffering or loss due to hong kong"s differences. Mainly the chinese who ruled china, or relatives, friends, or elites tied with those who ruled china. They would see hong kong as a result of china losing a war. 2) people who had come from other parts of asia, such as the philippines, to hong. Kong in order to seek opportunity or in order to leave the deplorable conditions back at home. Many merchants and expatriates from abroad have come overtime, as well. Also for people that criticized or opposed the ruling dynasties, such as criminals and rebels. Hong kong useful as a land of opportunity.
