Cricket: females like sounds with lower frequencies bigger crickets produce lower frequencies. On average a larger male tends to be more symmetrical. Birds: display a very complex call to attract females. Inbreeding avoidance: increased homozygosity and increased fatality of offspring. Most plants and animals have mechanisms to avoid them breeding with someone from the same genetic line: snails, humans, pelagic fish, caribou. Can have up to 55 different alleles in primates within the immune system all coupled to pheromones we all smell a bit different. Very wide spread process/ happens in most animals almost immediately. Someone that smells like yourself is producing the same mhc protein and will be less desirable to mate with because of their bodies response to avoid inbreeding. Females preferer males with the least similar mhc protein (smell) offspring will be highly heterozygous and different from the parents.
