Document Summary
They"re proximal to the capillaries, and are important for producing testosterone, so it doesn"t travel very far before reaching the capilarries. Follicle stimulating hormone; a pituitary hormone that stimulates the production of the sperm by stimulating the sustentacular cells. It"s about 7 metres long, and it"s super coiled up, which is why the maturation takes so freaking long before entering the reproductive tract. Well it"s the same for both males and females, with the gonads originating in the abdominal-pelvic cavity, taking about 2-3 months during gestation. It"s slow, with them lowering in the pelvis. Right before birth the testes descend out of the abdominal cavity and into the scrotum before descending out of the body. It"s where the blood vessels descend to the testes, right around where the iliopsoas muscle is. This leads to more hernias in men in this region because of this extra opening where these vessels pass down into the scrotum.
