EPHE 245 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Alan Baddeley
Document Summary
Massed pracy practicing a simple skill for a long period of time. Distributed pracy use the same amount of time in smaller chunks. 3 times a week for 50 mins (most distributed) 1 time a week for 3 hours (most massed) Distributed pracy better in terms of learning and performance. Neural rest (there are fatigue effects: gives time for neurons to rest and make new connections from what you just learned. Brain on autopilot: do a skill over and over and over again, gmp is still in stm (short term memory), still being used, still activated. Idea of recalling gmp from ltm is a good thing: helps with solidifying gmp. Just reading notes over and over and over again does not work. Not an example of distributed pracy relative to this (eg) if not the same amount of time. You can distribute between practice sessions, or within practice sessions.
