Great depression, impact: 13 mio unemplyoed in 1932. People continue to take vacation even through great depression. After a small dip, 1932, things started to pick up. The reason is because more people getting paid vacations. In 1929 over 3mio travelled to niagara falls. It has been cut by more than a half. Same kind of numbers proportional drop in provincial/national parks. The other way: during worst economic collapse in modern history, surprising number of people still go to vacation. By middle of 1930s, with economy back, tourism is too. 1934, american national parks see numbers going up. Over 4mio vacationers visit western national parks that year. Same year, visitations niagara falls up to 2. 5 mio. The truly rich are going to be ok anyway. It did take some money to be able to maintain the lifestyle. Car was the cheap way to get around.
