Real pressure point of the slave trade emerged at the beginning and at the end. Portuguese again : credited with the origine of the african slave trade. They started trading for gold at the beginning. Slavery : then started to observe local slavery practices. It was not plantation slavery for the world market. Kongo engaged trading slaves and establishing plantation of the island of west africa. Slavery was not uncommon : but the type of slavery was very different. 1488 : cape of good hope both contact and awaress of slavery. Sao tome and principe, 1500s : started to pioneer plantation sugar transform it to a scale never seen before. (initially these island, then replaces in the carribean, brzail)
