The diversity of stimuli and intensity of sexual response. Sex prints (innate) blueprints for orientations, desire, and behaviour. Sexual selection results from different traits affecting access: typically defined as male competition and female preference, example: males compete with one another for the female (moose) Focuses on the psychological mechanism (reason, judgement) shaped by natural selection rather than simply focusing on behaviour. Sexual strategies: females and males face different adaptive problems; these differences lead to different strategies, or behaviours designed to solve these problems. Criticisms include that sociobiology assumes every sexual characteristic must have some adaptive (evolutionary) significance: we make judgements and from these, we make social rules, example: women should have few sexual. Libido: that force by which sexual instincts represented in the mind . Sexual drive is outside the realm of consciousness and is generated within the body and propels itself towards discharge.
