The renaissance and reformation are closely linked within the century. 1517, northern germany, wittenberg; martin luther apparently nailed 95 discussion points onto the church"s door. Luther was not doing something that was considered unusual; it was common place for people to nail notices onto church doors for announcements. To historians he was considered the father of the reformation. First person to oppose the catholic hierarchy and to stand up to charles v, the emperor of the holy roman empire. Celebrated as one of the individuals who made a difference in history. Protestant historians celebrated luther as a figure of liberation; liberation from the oppressive hand of the catholic church that intervened with people.
