The other to say that they have cultures and traditions to protect. Hobbes, locke, rousseau suggested that civil society is your private life. Your private sphere of life is larger and important. There is a radical separation in liberalism between private and public spheres. The public and interfere with private otherwise it"s an interference to your individual autonomy.
