Personality pyramid: the hierarchical organization of human personality. Narrow traits: anxious, depressed, low self-esteem, etc. Combine and weigh participant responses in order to develop factors. A small number of factors represent the variation of responses. Each factor explains a certain amount of variance between participants. Factor loadings estimate how strongly each question fits into a given factor.
