Community playgroups are one forum in which parents make connections with other parents. Many stay-at-home fathers face difficulties gaining full acceptance in these groups. While fathers connect with mothers in extra-domestic spaces, tensions may exist in meeting up in other women"s homes. Every father interviewed referred to the moral responsibilities he felt weighing on him to be a family breadwinner, or to ear at least some part of the family wages. In addition to being judged on their earning capacity within families, fathers were sometimes judged negatively as carers.
