Group facilitations come prepared with questions to readings. The industrial revolution and the rise of capitalism sharpened the sexual division of labour. Prior to, women and children worked alongside men (in the fields/artisan shops, etc. ) Starting 1800s, a rising middle class with a cult of domesticity"/ ideology of __". People were asked to do very specific tasks. The public/private divide has led to the feminization of certain paid occupations, Women"s work," often work done in private sphere for pay, often low paid/involving domestic work, emotional labour" or dirty work". Still today, women"s work" lower wages than masculine work". When middle class women work in the public sphere, the either do the majority of work of the private sphere (some sharing with men but rarely equal), or other" women do their domestic work for pay. The double shift" undermines women"s ability to have a more public role in politics and other areas of leadership.
