BIOL 3530 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Endosome, Autophagosome, G Protein–Coupled Receptor

12 views7 pages

Document Summary

Lysosomes works to remove proteins that are misfolded and materials that are defective. Proteins get folded in the golgi and also get sorted and modified. It tags it with a sugar (the main job of golgi is to add sugar to protein), in the cis-golgi mannose-6-phosphate is embedded in the golgi membrane luminal phosphate. M6p to the receptor can be done only in ph above 6. The ph in the lysosome is acidic so what happens is the endosome will be formed in golgi at a more neutral ph and during the maturation off this endosomes the ph will start to drop. As these endosomes mature and bud off the golgi and become later endosomes the ph start to drop because they will fuse with the lysosome. So as the ph drop the m6p is cleaved by phosphatase and the ribosomal hydrolase is mature now and can do its job.
