Women did have a history, they could write, but the history was never written down. Never appeared in books, their lives often eclipsed early. If they did write they had to run away, write in secrecy etc . She is describing who was that real women who was not written in the history books. Mrs martin (imaginary figure), age 36, dressed in blue, black hat and brown shoes she is a vessel in which spirits exist; ideal flowing individual ideal character. The reality is that she is boring. She uses the word vessel: dh lawrence vessel of wrath before Beauty or wrath couldn"t make up their mind. We can"t see what the women were in the past . We don"t know what the women"s reality was like. One known nothing detailed, nothing true history scarcely mentions her. Now, we are doing the claiming and naming and finding the literary history that proceeds them; we get them in the sisters.
