First responding police officer- the first law enforcement officer to arrive at the scene. Safety of officers and everyone else at scene. Brief and turnover the crime scene to investigator in charge. Prepare for the following questions to help with investigating the incident: If anything was removed, where is it and who has custody. Document the dispatch information (who called, address, time, etc) Control physical threats to ensure safety of all involved. Be aware of the presence of dangerous person an call for backup. Consider the crime as ongoing until confirmed. The crime scene should be considered as three dimensional while searching for the evidence. It is important fora the first respondent to be observant while approaching. Implement the scene control and health safety measures. Guide medical team to injured with minimum contamination of evidence. Tell medical personnel about the possiblitiy of evidence on injured. Record dying declarations of injured steps following arrest of the suspect.
