This chapter will be on all of the exams. Dominant way of looking at a particular subject. After the cold war, the paradigm is globalism, no more borders, one single culture. Liberalism and neoliberalism very similar, not so much realism and neorealism. Thucydides was involved in both side of the war (peloponnesian war). National interest will prevail in the name of national interest, cause we"re the best. National interest is everything, the community is everything. There are those who will win, and those who will fail. Hobbes: ir is the war of all against all. The security dilemma: insecurity leads states to arm, but arms create more insecurity. Fundamental difference with classical realism is that classical focuses on community, and warfare is an affair that has to be carefully considered and planned. Where you sit in the structure affects your decision making. Global level of analysis is more important than any other level of analysis.
