Concussions: cte-chronic traumatic encephalopathy in the nfl and cfl result of many concussions. Nfl video: 90 of 94 brains had cte, more and more people are having brain diseases as a result of concussion. Lot of press on concussions in the news. Cfl concussion video: many ottawa roughriders suffered from dementia, former football players are 3x more likely to die from degenerative brain diseases, rationale for why athletes need to sit if injured. Stress response model (on bb: 3 key predictors for stress (at the top) that individuals that have a history of stressors (ex. hectic schedule, certain personality characteristics that are known to influence stress response (ex. Family support: when placed in a stressful situation, we"ll see the situation as more stressful when compared to people with the opposite profile (people not having those traits, or better coping resources) If an individual appraises the situation as stressful, physiological changes are not conducive to sport (ex. distractibility)
