Differs from slippery slope -- is not necessarily claiming that the absurd outcome would happen. The argument is that a bad precedent is being set. Given this convoluted logic, we should condone child labor, the oppression of women, and slavery all traditional practices in some societies. B. c. "s top medical health officer calls for crack-inhaling rooms (oct. 20): as an er doctor, i sometimes see victims of break-and-enter crimes. These poor souls often have badly lacerated hands, caused when they were forced to break glass to gain entry. Following the harm-reduction strategy to provide safe crack houses, we should also set up safe houses stocked with tvs and stereos with open windows and unlocked doors. Oh heck, maybe we"ll put a pile of money on the floor, too. After all, we want to make things as easy as we can for those engaged in criminal behaviour.
