Not all feminists agree on how to approach political science, some don"t want to approach it all. They do not want to deal with the state (see"s the state as unable to change and useless to try). Newman and white call for "big tent feminism" that supports choice and promotes equality (10). Big tent is used in politics as well, example the liberal party currently is trying to be all things to lots of people and is getting lots of criticism even though they are trying to include more. One thing that we have in common in the tent is that we are trying to promote choice. To support the state or not that is a big question. The pursuit of self interest is good (caring about one"s self) but it shouldn"t drive you all the time while living in a society.
