Secondly, let me say something here about the approach to this course, leaving the. This course draws on both historical and philosophical approaches to this material, the latter being being the more unfamiliar and perhaps difficult. To those who have not taken a philosophy course before, fear not! We will go slowly, and build things up. I am always approachable too, and always willing to entertain class inquiries. I use a "socratic method" of teaching as well as a straight-forward lecture style. There are no powerpoints, no bells, whistles, cedar point thrill rides, and the like! This course requires reflection more than straight-forward memorization, and in the end, education is more about reflection, critical thinking, judgement, skills, and so on than about mere memorization. Please come prepared for lectures, by reading the material in advance.
