Boring (yes that"s his name not important just had to say): intelligence is whatever intelligence tests measure (figures, lol) Galton reasoned most knowledge first comes through the senses; people with superior sensory capacities (like better eyesight) should acquire more knowledge than others. Problems: one exceptional sense doesn"t relate to others in his experiments, also think of people like helen. Keller, who became an author and social critic. Recent reports show some forms relate modestly to intelligence but not much. First intelligence test: diagnostic tool designed to measure overall thinking ability, was used to identify children in need of special ed. Questions had one thing in common: higher mental processes, including reasoning, understanding, and judgment; a lot different from galton"s sensation. Intelligence has something to do with abstract thinking: capacity to understand hypothetical concepts. Ability to reason abstractly, learn to adapt to new environmental circumstances, acquire knowledge, benefit from experience.
