On what basis: moral, legal, religious, unusual vs. disordered. Impairment in functioning: impairment during sexual activity (sexual dysfunctions, paraphilic disorders (abnormal/atypical) (strong attraction) Paraphilic arousal pattern narrowly focused, can preclude mutually consenting adult patterns. Gender dysphoria: incongruence and psychological distress/dissatisfaction with gender at birth. Alfred kinsey and colleagues - pioneer or sexual studies. Sexual behaviour in the human male and female (early 1950s) Youth sexual behaviour (think: sti and aids prevention: grades 7, 9, 11: oral contraceptives (84-90% of sexually active) > condoms (64-80%) Differences for some aspects of sexuality, not others. Masturbation: 48% of females, 80% of males (frequency is higher) Sexual fantasy - most are had more by men, with the exception of wearing sexual clothing. Response to sexual stimuli: men more specific and narrow in arousal patterns, men tend to be attracted to specifically just one gender, specific age range, women have a broader range.
