Regards herself as a freudian, but she could not be a part of the freudian circle. Established kleinian school, which challenged anna freud"s school. Less emphasis on biological drives= more on interpersonal relationships. Human behavior is motivated by human contact/relatedness, rather than sex. We have a drive to be with others. Emphasized the first five months of life. Children have a very active fantasy life including good and bad memories. Children have the ability, by instinct, to make psychic representations of what is around them. (good rain, bad rain) Internal objects have a power of their own (schemas)
