Describe an ideal level of ethical functioning or how psychologists should strive to conduct themselves. Broad descriptions of exemplary ethical behaviour (5): beneficience and nonmaleficence, fidelity and responsibility, integrity, justice, respect for people"s rights and dignity, ethical standards. More specific, more targeted aspects of professional activity. If a psychologist is guilty of an ethical violation, it"s a standard that has been violated. Remedial approach - involves doing just enough to avoid any trouble that might come from a violation of ethical standards. Positive approach - making every effort to ensure one"s professional behaviour was as consistent with ethical principles as possible. 1: modify and continue to evaluate the ethical plan as necessary. Psychologists should prepare themselves by becoming generally ethical people with sound values.
