Historically, very little has been written on women and crime: frieda adler and rita simon, looked at the increase of women in the workforce, but speci cally viewed the a ect on crime rates. They believed there was going to be changes because : adler saw women as people who were becoming more aggressive and competitive as they moved out of traditional social roles and into the workforce. Women are forcing their ways into violent crimes . By entering the workforce women would start to engage in a criminal role. Women"s liberation thesis: both simon and adler were arguing that liberation causes crime. This became the starting point for criminology to grow, but it did not take long for people to criticize this problematic approach.
