Analogous to hand pushing into a balloon: fist covered by layer of rubber, pushes further to become enclosed w/in a 2-layered cavity. Heart (fist) pushes into serous body cavity (balloon) from behind: becomes enclosed w/in a 2-layered cavity (pericardial cavity)
