12 views3 pages

Document Summary

Four main functions: quality control chaperones ensure the proteins correctly folded, otherwise sent to be degraded in the cytoplasm, synthesis newly made membrane and secreted proteins are translocated into the lumen of the er. Proteins destined to go into the er have a signal on them, so they can be moved into the er through a pore as its being secreted from the ribosome. Translocon protein = allows export translocation of the protein to occur: detoxification . Ser: membrane is continuous with the rer, and has no ribosomes present. Snares - 2 types: vesicle/ v-snares integral membrane proteins found in the vesicle membrane, have a large cytoplasmic domain, target/ t-snares found in the membrane of the target cells, and have a large cytoplasmic domain. Interaction of snare pairs which allow fusion to occur, they make sure that the right vesicle fuses with the right target membrane.
