Bio lecture 8- october 6 2016: translocation- a piece from one chromosome is moved to another, and vice versa (reciprocal) Inversion and translocation are not cnvs, deletion and duplication are: ex. Burkett lymphoma: exchanging a piece from chromosome from chromosome 8 to 14, c-myc contributes to cancer, chromosome 14 makes antiboties- very powerful expression, cancer gene moved to chromosome 14 makes cancer more expressed= lymphoma. Unequal recombination: can generate cnv, homologous chromosomes pair up in meiosis because they are homologous (very similar sequences)-same genes in same places, allele in that gene may be different, ex.
