Chlamy senses lights through eyespot where photons are captured and later results in movement of flagella through depolarization and action potential. Chlamy is phototactic which allows it to harvest light for photosynthesis. Phototaxis: movement of an organism in response to light (either towards or away from a light source) Chlamy might move towards light because it needs energy which is produced by light through photosynthesis. Chlamy might move away from intense light because too many photons (light) can lead to free radicals or produce reactive oxygen species (ros) Mutation in channelrhodopsin gene would be a reason why chlamy is not phototactic. Relationship between genome size and protein coding genes in e. coli, chlamydomonas and humans. No relationship some genomes contain more junk dna than others (i. e. less pcg)
